Arianna Caroli
b. 1948, resides in the US and lives and works in Bangkok, Thailand.
Arianna Caroli was born in Orvieto, Italy. She holds a doctorate in Ancient Literature and Archeology from the University of Rome and thereafter pursued further studies under Fortunato del Tavano in Rome. She studied iconography under master artist Vladislav Andrejev and received training at Sotheby’s London, The New York Studio School, and The Art Students League of New York. Her collaborative endeavors include prominent figures and organizations such as James Ivory, Vittorio and Paolo Taviani, Bob Giraldi, Buitoni-Perugina, and Etro, encompassing her creative pursuits in painting, set design, and art direction.
Arianna Caroli has received numerous accolades during her career, reflecting her impact and artistic achievements. The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs urged her to participate in the Open Studio Project Gallery; she received a commission to create artwork for the prestigious Tiffany & Co. windows on Fifth Avenue in New York. Hollywood films such as Perfect Murder and Stepford Wives have incorporated her artwork. In recognition of her contributions to the arts, the United States government granted her the privilege of Permanent Residency (Green Card) as an ‘Outstanding Artist.’ In 2023, the Italian government awarded her the knighthood of the Order of the Star of Italy.
Arianna has exhibited extensively both in solo and group exhibitions across the globe. Notable exhibitions include Arianna Caroli: Artist in Residence at Sofitel Singapore City Centre and Central Embassy Bangkok (2018), ART BASEL MIAMI (2017) at Red Dot Gallery by Ben Gallery Taiwan, SHANGHAI ART FAIR (2017), ART STAGE SINGAPORE (2017), Venice Biennale (2005), FROST Museum at FIU Miami (2011), and the solo exhibition UTI SI SCIAS VITA LONGA EST at (MOCA BANGKOK from 2022 to 2023. Her works were also featured in multiple exhibitions at Central Chidlom, Bangkok between 2007 and 2009.
Arianna Caroli’s practice harmoniously fuses Eastern aesthetics with Western emotional intensity. Deeply influenced by the cultures and artistic traditions of Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, and India, her works reflect spiritual depth, sacred symbolism, and a distinctive use of gold. Her works are part of collections at institutions such as Florida International University, FROST Museum, Babson College, and the Museum of XXI Century Art in the United States, as well as the permanent collection of MOCA BANGKOK. They are also held by prominent collectors including Ronald Lauder, Sumner Redstone, and Ralph Lauren. She continues to create and exhibit her art while living between New York, Miami, and Bangkok, and traveling worldwide in search of new inspiration.
