b. 1986, resides and works in Nakhon Pathom Province, Thailand

Sakaranon Supap was born in Sisaket Province, Thailand. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Arts at Silpakorn University. Early in his career, he was awarded the Silver Medal, Silpa Bhirasri Award, at the 23rd Contemporary Art Exhibition for Young Artists in 2006, an important recognition that signaled the strength of his emerging practice.

His work has been exhibited continuously both in Thailand and internationally. Notable group exhibitions include Kon in 2020; Manussanang and ART FOR REFUGEES 2 in 2019; The Masterpieces at MOCA BANGKOK in 2018; and the Special Exhibition of the ASEAN Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit 2014, The Origin of Beauty: Dramatic Nostalgia, at the Busan Museum of Art, South Korea. He also participated in the 9th Panasonic Contemporary Painting Exhibition in 2007. His solo exhibitions include Dramatic I Nature at Hof Art Space, Bangkok, in 2017; and Deangsa at People’s Gallery, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, in 2013.

Working primarily in oil on canvas, Supap grounds his practice in close observation of the human figure. Particular attention is given to anatomical structure, especially the eyes, facial expression, hands, feet, and musculature, rendered with precision to convey a strong sense of presence. His technique is defined by a deliberate control of paint density and brushwork. Thick, layered applications are used to build up key areas and bring out texture and visual focus. Thinner paint and looser brushstrokes are used on secondary elements. Dark tonal backgrounds are used to bring the figure forward with clarity.

This approach is evident in his series Preparing for the Dance, which turns to the moment before performance rather than the staged event itself. The structure of performance shapes scenes of dressing, arranging costumes, and informal gestures. In these works, movement, innocence, and the natural rhythm of life emerge with quiet clarity, while light, shadow, costume, and atmosphere locate the figures within the cultural landscape of Isaan. Supap continues to work as an independent artist, and his works are included in the permanent collection of MOCA BANGKOK.
