b. 1944, currently resides and works in Bangkok, Thailand.
Professor Emeritus Ornsiri began her education at Mater Dei School in 1960. She continued her studies at Triam Udom Suksa School and graduated from the Faculty of Thai Architecture at Silpakorn University in 1966. She later pursued a Master’s degree in Tropical Architecture at Pratt Institute, New York, USA, and graduated in 1968.
Throughout her career, Professor Emeritus Panin has received numerous honors in various fields, including education, academia, research, and profession. In the field of education, she was awarded honorary doctoral degrees: from Kasetsart University in 2001 in architecture, from Silpakorn University in 2005 in local Architecture, and from Sripatum University in 2009 in architecture. In academia, Professor Emeritus Panin has received several significant awards, such as the Silpa Bhirasri Award from Silpakorn University in 2010, the Outstanding Alumnus Award for Academic Excellence from Silpakorn University in 2003, and the Distinguished Honor for Contributions to Cultural Relations in the Field of Fine Arts (Vernacular Architecture) from Khon Kaen University in 2015. In research, Professor Emeritus Ornsiri Panin has been highly recognized for several research projects, including the Outstanding Research Award from Silpakorn University in 2001 for the project “Thai-Mon Traditional Houses,” and the National Outstanding Researcher Award in Philosophy from the National Research Council of Thailand in 2004. Additionally, in 2014, she received the Excellent Research Award in Philosophy from the National Research Council of Thailand for the project “Holistic Study of Adaptation in the Diverse Contexts of the Tai-Lao Ethnic Groups in the Central Plain of Thailand.” In her professional field, Professor Emeritus Panin has been acknowledged for her outstanding work. In 1994-1995, she was honored as an exemplary academic architect in conservation by the Association of Siamese Architects under the Royal Patronage. In 2004, she received the Distinguished Architect Award in the Academic Field for the 70th Anniversary from the Association of Siamese Architects under the Royal Patronage. In 2021, Professor Emeritus Ornsirii Panin was honored as a National Artist in Visual Arts (Applied Arts), Vernacular Architecture.
Professor Emeritus Ornsiri Panin continues to play a significant role in the study and preservation of vernacular architecture. Her research and conservation work are critical to raising awareness of the value of local architecture and appropriate conservation methods. Through lectures, exhibitions, and various research writings, she disseminates her knowledge and experience, helping to pass on valuable practices to new students and researchers. Her work is an important inspiration for students and researchers in architecture, as she not only creates new knowledge but also opens opportunities for in-depth exploration and research in the field, making her a significant role model in Thailand’s field of architectural education and research.
