VISIT & MAP

Thai art has been a vehicle for the expression of national pride, religious devotion, and royal loyalty for many years. The traditional artworks of Thailand frequently depicted an idealized beauty, which mirrors the respect that the Thai people have for these fundamental institutions.
As time moved forward, so did art. A single figure stood at the forefront of this transformation: Professor Silpa Bhirasri (Corrado Feroci), an Italian sculptor whose influence would forever change the Thai art landscape. He founded the painting and sculpture programs at Praneet Silpa School, which later evolved into Silpakorn University.
With the guiding principle of "Ars Longa, Vita Brevis" in mind, Professor Silpa utilized Academic Art to bring Thai artists up to international level. Because of this, he became known as the "Father of Thai Contemporary Art." Works that reflect not just religion and dedication but also societal change and the spirit of the time sprang from the seeds established by his teachings. In essence, these pieces show the depth of Buddhism and Thailand's progress toward modernity.
